Bona Espero began in 1957 as an educational and community initiative linked to Esperanto. Its history of taking in and educating children helps explain its importance to Alto Paraíso, beyond the landscape it sits in.
The property has a small cold-water waterfall, reached by a short walk, in the Morro da Baleia area. A visit can be paired with an interest in the institution's history, by scheduling activities, lodging or swimming access in advance.
